1. Put in the effort to become better

Try and be a better person every day by investing in knowledge.  Improve on the areas in your life you think are bringing you down at the workplace. Don’t be stuck in a routine. 2. Be confident

Be confident and bold by challenging yourself to the limits. Take up other roles at your office to prove to yourself that you can do it. When you are confident, you are likely to overcome a challenge as opposed to a situation in which you are timid.

4. Have a good relationship with your co workers

Make a point of treating others at work well. Respect your coworkers no matter their position. Be someone that your coworkers can trust. If your coworkers trust you, they will open up which in turn makes you influential.

5. Be reliable

A consistently reliable person most of the times has a good reputation. Strive to be a reliable employee. If you take your roles seriously and care about your coworkers, your coworkers will actually respond positively to you. It reminds me of those people who cancel appointments because of the slightest issue. “I couldn’t make it because I woke up late. And sorry I did not see your missed calls. My phone was on silent.” Whatever happened to the good old days when you agree with someone to meet “hapo archives at 10am” and you would both be there on time.

6. Be flexible

It is important to be flexible. Accommodate other peoples’ views and offer a helping hand where you can. Whoever said every man for himself needs to elaborate; Where? Who? How? and When? In most cases, it doesn’t apply. A good friend once told me that life is not a race but a marathon. Don’t be stuck up in your ways and assume everyone else is a dunderhead.
